Carolina Gold Sauce

This homemade BBQ sauce is inspired by the legendary flavors of North Carolina. Its golden blend, spicy with a delicate sweetness, perfectly enhances the flavor of favorite pork dishes. It pairs ideally with ribs and traditional BBQ meals, bringing the essence of Carolina BBQ culture to the plate.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 ml / 1 cup of apple cider vinegar
  • 62.5 ml / ¼ cup of dark brown sugar
  • 62.5 ml / ¼ cup of ketchup
  • 62.5 ml / ¼ cup of mustard
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of table salt
  • 2 teaspoons of chili flakes (optional)

RECIPE

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add 250 ml (1 cup) of apple cider vinegar.
  3. Add 62.5 ml (¼ cup) of dark brown sugar.
  4. Pour in 62.5 ml (¼ cup) of ketchup.
  5. Add 62.5 ml (¼ cup) of mustard.
  6. Stir until the ingredients blend into a smooth sauce, then reduce heat.
  7. Mix in 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce.
  8. Add 1 teaspoon of table salt.
  9. Optionally, add 2 teaspoons of chili flakes.
  10. Cook the sauce on low heat for 5 minutes.
  11. Transfer the sauce to a container and store until use.
